A Manual for Owners -
Opening Your Garden or Landscape to the Public
The Owners' Manual aims to provide support and guidance to sites both large and small, private, public and commercial in opening to the public and creating a positive visitor experience. It is intended for use by sites of all scales with varying levels of experience opening to the public.

Going Wild: Biodiversity in Brownian Landscapes
Leslie Pearman from Natural England highlights how Capability Brown’s landscapes provide havens for wildlife and stepping stones for species to connect with similar habitats in the wider landscape. Of European importance are the ancient trees that were retained or planted by Brown, a key component of wood pasture and parkland habitat, that provide homes for dead wood dependant species such as beetles, lichens and fungi, as well as providing roosts for bats.
Potter and Ponder
Katherine Alker and Rachel Sharpe of National Trust, Croome, Capability Brown's first commission, discuss the 'Potter and Ponder' sensory experience that has been launched at Croome to encourage families with children with disabilities to explore the parkland. The webinar explores the process of working with children who have profound learning and physical differences to create a map locating places in the landscape to unlock sensory experiences, to open up Brown's landscape at Croome for all current and all potential visitors. It also discussed attracting new audiences in ways to ensure they feel comforle enough to become repeat visitors. The Potter and Ponder - Sensory Experiences at Croome map is free to download and printed copies of the map are available to pick up at Croome's visitor reception.
Easy Step to Build a New Green Visitor Base
The webinar explores how “Mr Brown’s Green Directions” (the Capability Brown Festival’s Sustainable Travel Toolkit) can be used to develop a new market of “green” visitors to attractions. This particularly focusses on the potential for increasing cycling visitors and answer some pertinent questions about signing. Heritage Lottery Fund applications ask projects to consider how environmental impacts will be mitigated. This webinar will help you address this issue as well as give you an overview of the wider potential for green transport.
