Oakland Breath

The project focuses on the inequity of public health. People who have different income live in different environment and have different healthy conditions. In Oakland, asthma is the most common illness because the large port and traffic which nearby residential areas. Also, the distribution of health care facilities is inequity. The places where hispanic, black and asian people live have fewer health facilities. Therefore, I create a network along the main road and build a sustainable healthy corridor through a holistic system, including “Farm Garden”, “Scented Garden” and “Antipollution Garden” which could alleviate respiratory illness by providing available holistic food and scented plants. The final goal is to balance the condition of public health for the poor and enhance the connectivity between the northern and southern part of the city.
